Many cultures have wondered, “is it possible to lose weight by not working out?” The truth is yes, (even though you should work out). If you have a desk job, or a job to were you have hardly any time to work out except for when you need to get up to run to the restroom this is for you.
You can always lose weight just by eating healthier BUT, according to livestrong.com there are 4 things that you can do, that can help you achieve this goal of losing weight with out working out.
Eliminate Unnecessary Calories – Cut out snack foods such as crackers, chips, cookies and candy. Sweets, fast foods and fried foods should be reserved for special occasions.
Reduce Your Portions – Dole out servings using measuring cups, following recommended serving sizes from recipes. Eat out less often, and when you do, plan on taking some home with you, as restaurants tend to supersize their portions.
Fool Yourself – Load your plate with greens and veggies. Two cups of romaine lettuce provides fiber; add carrots and other veggies and before you know it you have a plate that’s 100 calories or less (depending on dressing).
Drink Smarter– Approximately everyone gains 10 pounds from drinking soda each year. Think of all the calories you could save if you drink water, milk or green tea. Green tea has no calories and contains catechins that boost your metabolism and burn fat; and drinking a glass of water shortly before a meal can reduce calorie intake. Read more at livestrong.com
Have YOU ever had that feeling as if you were hungry but couldn’t tell? It happens to every one, and most can not tell whether they are bored, hungry, or just need a drink of water.
Ways to tell the difference
1) If you are bored, you are usually just looking for something to do, and most of the times you think food. However most of the time it is your body telling you that you need to be hydrated with water (NOT soda, coffee, or beer) but water! Next time you think you are bored, drink some water, go do an activity outside/watch tv while you wait 10 – 15 minutes and if you are still not satisfied then you are probably hungry after all.
2) Many people get that growling in their stomachs. Most of the times I automatically think that I need something to eat. Like I said before, wait a couple of minutes, drink some water and hey..maybe have a small snack like a handful of grapes or a small orange. Usually this will do the trick, and your “hunger” will go away.
3) Thirst! A lot of people including myself sometimes forget that hydration is key, and that’s all they need. After eating every 3 hours, I sometimes forget that I need to drink water constantly in between my meals. When I forget to do this, like many out there I think that I need a snack. So why not try always carrying a bottle of water with you, or maybe some green tea that you brewed at home; just in case if that hunger feeling comes along out of know where. It probably means that you are thirsty.
My friend asked me the other day “Jess what should I do, I need to lose weight but want to keep toned. Should I do Cardio or lift weights?”
A mix of both is great! BUT if you really want to lose that belly flab, love handles, all that extra stuff that you just don’t like, lifting is really the way to go.
Don’t be scared to try this like most girls, because they don’t want to become to muscular. Surprise that does not happen unless you want it too. PLUS there are some major benefits from doing this.
Womens health magazine will give you the skinny on weight lifting, the benefits and how it will keep you toned and in shape!
One more thing...
I don’t know about you, but I have them and am not a fan. I want them gone by summer if not by spring break.
So I searched the web and came across a great article. It gives you a weekly exercise plan, what you should and should not do etc. It may sound intense but remember, if you don’t try no results will show.
Hey Everyone! My name is Jess, and I decided to start a health blog. Not just a blog but a link blog as well. This was I can link you to health blogs and sites from which I found some content.
I will be covering healthy eating habits. How to stay fit and thin while eating what you need and want. (you don’t have to starve yourself to look good) I will have exercises and recipes for those who don’t know how to get started. And much much more 🙂
I also love to find and post pictures that inspire me, and I will post them in hopes that they inspire you.
